Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

In the Book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Douglass himself, Frederick Douglass was a slave who took on the initiative to get an education. Through this experience Douglass learns that education is freedom. Through the years many people and small groups have found that education is their way to freedom. Frederick Douglas's is writing from his personal life experiences, being a African American man and a former slave. Frederick Douglass then became and author and wrote an auto- biography relating a theme that education is freedom. The auto-biography of Frederick Douglass is personal and gives insight that white men and women don't have.

Many people in foreign countries live under a higher power and are told what to wear, where to work and even who they can marry and how many kids they can have, but if they somehow found a way to receive and education they too could be free. Frederick Douglass first step to becoming free is when he moves into his new slave owners house and the wife of his master starts to teach him small words and phrases. Frederick then goes onto and finds his own way to learn when his master for bays his wife to teach him any longer. Frederick shows that education is freedom when he becomes free from slavery. This is significant because it shows that an education can truly be your freedom.

In the 1800's African Americans were slaves but in the late 1800's through the mid 1900's African American people were on their way to becoming free. This theme is shown in history by the construction of the first college for black women in 1881, Spellman college. This theme is shown because women finally get to become a part in society just like white women, making decisions just as men would. In 1951 With the Brown vs board of education, this case states that public schools were going to be blacks and whites together getting an equal education. Women were never allowed to vote but as they became educated and learned their rights they became registered voters. This theme is significant in history because if blacks hadn't become educated then they still may be slaves today, and if women hadn't gotten an education men and women might not be equal counter parts.

Frederick Douglass had a certain perspective and that was education is freedom and that's the reason why he chose to wright an auto-biography. Douglass had a personal experiences. He was black man, former slave he was educated and became an author. Frederick Douglas also had a historical experience where he lived and created history. People who live in the 20th century didn't live through the 1800's and can't relate. Once again Douglass made history by living through it. A person who lives in the 20th century could write a book saying education is freedom but it wouldn't have the personal insights making the book what it could be. Significance of the auto -biography is that Frederick Douglass can give personal insight that a any day American can't.

Freedom is achieved by education, by being educated you know your rights and you can stick up for them. The significance is great through out history because it shows how far the world has come and how much man can achieve when they set their minds to it. Frederick Douglas's prospective is education is freedom and it's proven because at the beginning of the book he's a slave and by the end of the book he is a free man. People today don't think that education is freedom only because it's handed to them. People should think of what their lives would be today if they didn't have an education.

9/11 Discussion

September 11, 2001 : Attack on AmericaHealth and Human Services Dispatches Initial Emergency Personnel and Supplies; September 11, 2001

This article talks about 911 and what the dispatchers did that day how all the medical teams are highly trained, tons of people from all over New York were sent to the pentagon and Twin towers to help look for people and to resuce and transport people to hospitals.

I chose this article because I wanted to see how hospitals and emts worked together to save peoples lives. Aswell as how everything may be organized.
